Astral Projection
Astral Projection is the ability to remove one's 'spirit' self (called the astral form) from the body and send it elsewhere.
When the astral self leaves the body, the body is left as if in deep sleep or a coma. The astral projector can send their astral self various places, and can move about as if normal. They can walk through a room, can study things, can read things - the only downside is that they cannot manipulate anything, as they would pass right through anything they try and touch. Nor can they communicate with anyone (save for other astral projectors).
When an astral projector is in astral form, they are invisible to everyone else, aside from other astral projectors, who can, of course, see them and interact with them regularly.
Astral projectors also have access to the Astral Plane. The astral plane is like a different level of reality that is not accessable by anyone else. Some astral projectors find it easy to liken it to the Matrix - in the Astral Plane they are able to manipulate their surroundings, as it is all made of astral energy. They can alter their clothes, their appearance, the things around them. Many astral projectors use the astral plane as a meeting place (for example, an Astral Projector who lived in America could meet up with an Astral Projector who lived in Africa there), or just a fun place to hang out and practice their abilities.
Common Limitations:
- A new astral projector might have some difficulty returning to their body (although usually they learn this real quick).
- While in astral form, their body is vulnerable. So usually, astral projectors will make sure their body is left somewhere safe, else they could be hurt.
- Psychics who are newly introduced to the astral plan often have difficulty manipulating it fully. For example, they might try and 'change' their shirt, and have it work on the front, but have the back of their shirt be like their old one.
- Strong telepaths, empaths and ESP psychics may be able to sense the presence of an astral projector in astral form (because the astral form is made up of the psychic energy, and they can sense this).
