Empathy is the ability to 'read' the emotions of another person. An empath can tell is a person is happy or sad or angry or any other emotion, despite how they might be trying to act. Even if a person is smiling on the outside, an empath can tell if they are distraught on the inside.
As an empath progresses in their ability, they become more precise. For exmaple, they would not only be able to tell that a person was happy, but what sort of happiness it was - happiness of love, happiness of pride, etc etc.
As well as being able to sense the emotions of others, empaths can push their own emotions onto others. They can cause a person to be upset or angry or happy or anything like that - as is often the case, the more practice, the more skillful they become.
Very strong empaths can function well as lie detectors, because they can sense the emotional cues that show someone is lying.
Common Limitations: - Young empaths sometimes find it difficult to block out the emotions of others. Because of this, they can sometimes find themselves taking on the emotions of others. If they are around very happy people, they might find themselves feeling happy for no reason, etc etc. - An empath might accidently project their own emotions onto another person accidently, especially in times of stress.
