Zener Behavioural Code

There are often questions/complaints about what causes a student at the Zener school to get into trouble with the teachers. This information is to clear that up.

The Zener School for the Mind is a private school, and thus would be stricter than public schools, as students live within the walls. Also remember, in a school of psychics, there is not much that will get past the teachers!

Punishments vary, depending on the severity of the incident, and the record of the student - repeat offenders will have stricter punishments. Punishment types include detention, cleaning duty with Mr. Moretti, meetings with the staff/Headmasters, restriction of activities, etc.

Behaviours that end in minor punishment (detention and talking to by teacher)
- Inappropriate comments
- Disruption in class
- Disrespectful behaviour towards teachers
- Use of cell phones, hand-held gaming units, Blackberries, iPods, etc in class (note: some teachers may allow iPod usage during work time in class)
- Not doing homework (isolated incident)
- Skipping class (singular)
- Refusing to follow directions of a teacher

Major punishments (trip to Headmaster, multiple detention and/or cleaning duty, possible suspension)
- Chronic disrespect of authority
- Use of abilities on another student without that student's permission (pure accidents exempted from this)
- Chronically skipping class
- Chronically not doing homework
- Racial slurs (or homophobic, etc)
- Bullying (physical, verbal, emotional)
- Fighting (Zener has a hands off policy; striking another student is an automatic trip to the Headmasters and punishment)
- Verbal threats
- Sleeping in the dorms of the other sex (no hanky panky!)
- Alcohol and drug use of any kind
- Sexual harrassement
- Weapons useage/carrying

Records are kepy of how often a student gets into trouble. These add up. Three majors leads to automatic in-school suspension and suspension of priviledges for a week (or longer depending on the behaviour in question) and lots of cleaning duty with Moretti.

And if students continue to cause trouble, expulsion is an issue.
