Stargate Training
Stragate Training
Project: Stargate psychics are trained in a number of ways. While the base does not offer traditional classes, those who are still of a high-school age do course-work, but it is on a more individual basis. Assignments and readings are assigned and are expected to be submitted. Those who are particularly bright might be selected to do further study, possibly even at a local college.
All Stargate psychics are of course trained in the use of their psychic abilities. For the psychic's first two years with the Project, they are expected to train in their ability four times a week. After two years this can be dropped down, unless the trainers think otherwise. While they do learn control, they are also taught to use their abilities to their best advantage, to use them in ways of offense, defense and other things. Psychics are expected to explore the limits of their abilities.
Many, but not all Project: Stargate members train physically as well. For some it is something as simple as running. For others there is more extensive physical training. The armory, run by Kim Malone, is available with a number of weapons. Stargate psychics are not able to use a weapon unless they have trained in its use. Training is done under Miss Malone’s supervision, and she decided when an operative is trained well enough to use the weapon in the field. (Note: Stargate psychics 16 and under are not allowed to train in firearm usage).
Initiation into Project Stargate
When a young psychic is brought to the Project: Stargate compound, they are given Level 1 clearance and are placed on probation for four months, during which time they are observed in order to determine whether they are trustworthy or not. This period might be extended if deemed necessary. During this time, the psychic cannot enter the building without being escorted by someone with Level 2 or higher clearance.
Once the probationary period has come to an end, the psychic is given Level 2 clearance - this is the clearance level held by most young psychics.
If an operative gives reason or proof that they are no longer trustworthy or are a security risk, they are dropped back down to Level 1 clearance. And if this happens frequently, the psychic is removed from the program... permanently.
